Prof. Dr. Burkhard Schwenker is Chief Executive Officer of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. He took over this function from the company's founder Roland Berger in 2003 and was elected for a second term by the Partners in December 2006.He joined Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in 1989, following his studies in business administration and mathematics, his first position at PWA Papierwerke Waldhof-Aschaffenburg AG, and the completion of his Ph.D. He was promoted to Partner in 1992.
Burkhard Schwenker regularly lectures at several business schools and universities, and additionally serves on committees. He was granted an honorary professorship for strategic management at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL). He is an active member of Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Marketing und Unternehmensführung, Gesellschaft für Unternehmensgeschichte and the German Council on Foreign Relations.
Burkhard Schwenker is socially committed as a member of the following Boards of Trustees: WWF World Wide Fund for Nature, German Sports Aid Foundation and the German Athletics Federation for the 2009 World Cup, Stiftung zur Förderung der Semperoper Dresden, "Lebendige Stadt" (Hamburg), The Stifterverband, Wertekommission e.V. and berufundfamilie GmbH - an initiative of the non-profit Hertie Foundation. He is also a member of Atlantik Brücke e.V.
