June 30: Ceremony to honor the scholars

140 schoolchildren from Berlin, Brandenburg, Upper Bavaria and the Ruhr Area will be accepted into the "Fit for responsibility" program.

Prof. h.c. Roland Berger will present the scholarship certificates to the various representatives of the State Ministry of Education. Prof. h.c. Roland Berger will officially welcome the 140 schoolchildren and 14 university students into the "Fit for responsibility" scholarship program in Munich on June 30. The State Ministers and State Secretaries of Education of the four pilot regions, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia, will accept the certificates on behalf of the scholarship recipients.

The scholarships benefit gifted children and youth from socially disadvantaged families, with support ranging from individually tailored support concepts to general preparation for university. From the over 600 applications received, 140 students aged 7 to 17 were selected. They hail from the program's pilot regions of Upper Bavaria, the Ruhr Area, Berlin and Brandenburg. In addition, 14 university students were accepted into the program in February, and are to serve as inspirational role models for the younger participants.

How important a good education is for professional success is demonstrated in the accompanying paper by the Roland Berger Foundation, entitled "Information society Germany: Developing talent - Ten recommendations for improving education".
